It is often desired to prevent bacterial growth by acidifying the PDA medium in yeast and mold counts, and it is recommended to reduce the reaction of the medium to pH (3,5 ± 0,1) after sterilization. The growth of bacteria can alternatively be inhibited by adding a bactericide. The use of bactericide should be specified in the test report.
