This standard describes test methods using strips of fabric in the form of straight strips or loops, which can be used to measure the elasticity and related properties of fabrics, excluding narrow fabrics.
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms apply;
A fabric test sample of certain sizes is stretched at a fixed rate to a certain force or elongation for an agreed number of cycles, and its elasticity is determined by measuring certain properties.
Each test sample shall be cut in such a way that its length is parallel to the warp or weft of the fabric and shall be wide enough to allow the necessary fringes on both sides. The threads should be removed in approximately equal numbers from each of the long sides of the cut strip to form fringes, until a mm width or 1 full thread is obtained. The width of the eaves should be such that no longitudinal teeth escape from the eaves during the test. The length of the sample will be cut between 250 mm and 300 mm.
