ISO 15105-2 Determination of Gas Transmission Rate for Plastics, Film and Coating Part 2: Equal Pressure Method

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ISO 15105-2 standard. This part of ISO 15105 specifies a method for determining the gas transmission rate of any plastic material in the form of film, sheet, laminate, coextruded material, or flexible plastic coated material.

ISO 15105-2 Determination of Gas Transmission Rate for Plastics, Film and Coating Part 2: Equal Pressure Method

A test specimen is mounted in a gas conduction cell to form a sealed barrier between the two chambers. A room is swept slowly with a carrier gas. The second chamber is supplied with test gas.

The total pressure is the same (atmospheric) in each chamber, but the test gas
Since its partial pressure is higher in the second chamber, the test gas passes through the barrier to the carrier gas in the first chamber.

The test gas passing through the sample is carried by the carrier gas to a sensor whose nature will depend on the material being tested and the test gas used.
