DIN 16950 Flooring Materials - Semi-Flexible Tiles - Requirements and Test Methods

Vinyl asbestos panels, within the meaning of this standard, are floor covering panels produced using polyvinyl chloride or vinyl chloride copolymers, as well as asbestos and other fillers, pigments and other additives.

Synthetic resin-asbestos panels, within the meaning of this standard, are floor covering panels produced using synthetic resin, asphalt or bitumen, as well as asbestos and other falling materials, pigments and other additives.

Thickness is measured with a mechanical thickness gauge of 0,2 mm (8 cm²) diameter, with a measuring pressure of 0,5 kp/cm². Three seconds after the meter is properly positioned, the thickness reads 0,01 mm. Thickness is measured at the central edge of the test panel at a distance of 10 to 20 mm from the edge.

A rectangular standard angle conforming to DIN 875 is placed on the flat steel plate. The test plate is placed at the standard angle to fit snugly on one angle leg and attached to the other angle leg and clamped into this box.

After heat treatment, dimensional stability testing is carried out on two test panels. To determine dimensional changes, two measurements of 15 to 200 mm each are marked on the test plates parallel to both edge directions, at a distance of at least 220 mm from the edges of the test plate. To measure, test plates are placed on a flat, smooth base plate made of steel or glass. After the test plates are placed in a flat position, they are weighted in the middle with a square steel plate with a side length of 180 mm and a thickness of 12 mm. Marked mélanges measure in 0,025 mm.
