A colored test sample is selected from the textile product and extracted with pyridine-water at 100 °C. The extract is analyzed by liquid chromatography/diode array detection (LC-DAD) or liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS).
It is important to note that other test methods for azo dyes exist, for which reducing the extracted azo dyes leads to the release of certain aromatic amines that will be detected and determined using chromatography.
