This part of this European standard defines general requirements for wire intended for mechanical steel ropes. Additional requirements are given in the following sections of this European Standard that are specific to each wire category.
This part of this European standard states:
All diameter values measured according to EN 10218-2 on a part of the wire must be within the tolerance limits given in the relevant tables. The tolerance level corresponds to the T10218 level of EN 2-4 for drawn wire and to the T1 level for class A coated wire. The roundness shall not be greater than half the tolerance specified in the relevant tables referred to in EN 10264 parts 2, 3 and 4.
