ISO 175 Plastics - Test Standard for Determining the Effects of Immersion in Liquid Chemicals

This International ISO 175 standard specifies the method by which test specimens of plastic materials are exposed to liquid chemicals, free from all external restrictions, and methods for determining changes in properties resulting from such immersion.

It only considers testing by immersion of the entire surface of the test specimen. This method may not be suitable for simulating partial or infrequent wetting of plastics.

Molding or extrusion materials can be applied to all solid plastics available in the form of sheets, pipes, bars or sheets with a thickness greater than 0,1 mm. Not applicable to cellular materials.

While not covered by this International Standard, it may also be of interest when dealing with volatile liquids or liquids that emit vapours, simply subjecting the sample to the gas phase above the liquid. In this case, it is recommended that you proceed exactly as directed, but suspend the sample above the liquid, close the container, and keep it at test temperature throughout.

Among the services provided by our organization within the framework of plastic testing services, there are also ISO 175 standard tests.
