The test specimens are prepared in such a way that the sealant to be tested adheres to two parallel contact surfaces. Test specimens are stretched to a defined width and this extension is maintained under defined conditions. Any loss of adhesion or cohesion is recorded.
The sealant manufacturer's instructions regarding, for example, whether to use a primer and the mixing procedure for multi-component sealants should be followed. The hollow volume created by the substrates and spacers will be filled with sealant.
The test specimens should be placed on the edge of one of the supports. The anti-adhesive substrate should be removed as soon as possible. Samples should be placed in this position to allow the sealant to cure or to dry optimally. Spacers must be held in place during conditioning.
