ISO 11093-5 Paper and Cardboard - Testing of Cores - Determination of Concentric Rotation Properties

ISO 11093 specifies a method for determining the concentric rotation characteristics of cylindrical card cores that meet the following criteria:

• Minimum wall thickness: 5 mm;
• Minimum outer diameter: 60 mm;
• Maximum sample length: 3200 mm.

The measurement should be made in the same standard atmosphere used for conditioning. Measuring heads must not cause any measurable deformation of the test piece during measurement.

Adjust the distance between the two support rollers in each pair so that the tangents to the support lines of the core form an angle of 120° ± 5°. Adjust the distance between the inner faces of the two pairs of support rollers so that the core length is less (200 ± 10) mm. This is the test length. Position the core centrally on the support rollers.

Place the foot of the fixed measuring head in contact with the core, so that it is centrally positioned with ±1 mm accuracy relative to the center axis and the line between the pair of support rollers. Rotate the core 360° and record the highest and lowest readings of the gauge with an accuracy of ±0,01 mm. The difference between the two readings is the individual value for the roundness deviation (fR), expressed in millimeters.
