ISO 1856 Flexible Cellular Polymeric Materials - Determination of Compression Set

The ISO 1856 standard, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), is a test method that specifies three methods for determining the compression set of flexible cellular materials and is applied only to latex and polyurethane foams with a thickness greater than 2 mm.

Before performing ISO 1856, it is important to read the entire specification. Standards can be obtained from the appropriate standards authorities. Results obtained with this method relate only to specified test conditions and cannot generally be used directly for design purposes.

Persons using this International Standard should be familiar with normal laboratory practice. This International Standard does not purport to address all, if any, safety problems associated with its use. It is the user's responsibility to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to ensure compliance with any national regulatory requirements.

The compression set is a test method that allows to find the difference between the initial thickness and the final thickness of a test piece of cellular material after it has been compressed for a certain time at a certain temperature and after a certain recovery time.

Among the services provided by our organization within the framework of material testing services, there are also ISO 27447 standard tests. Do not hesitate to contact our laboratory EUROLAB for your testing and certification requests.
