EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ISO 20418-2 standard. This standard specifies a qualitative and quantitative procedure for determining the composition of animal hair fiber blends with MALDI-TOF MS.
The composition of non-animal hair fibers can be measured by methods described in the ISO 1833 series. Both results are then combined to determine the overall composition of the fibers.
The method is based on preliminary light microscopy identification of all fibers in a blend according to ISO/TR 11827 based on their morphology.
If fibers from the same animal species are present (eg blends of cashmere and mohair) the method is not applicable and quantitative analysis can be performed using microscopic analysis (eg as described in the ISO 17751 series).
