This document is used to determine the bending moment required to deflect the free end of a 50 mm wide vertically clamped specimen by 38° when the load is applied at a bending length of 15 mm. For sheets that tend to deform permanently when bent by 15°, a half bending angle, ie 7,5°, can be used. The bending strength is expressed in terms of the bending moment and parameters set by the manufacturer of the Taber type tester.
The method is primarily used for high-weight papers. This standard does not cover the low-pitch version of the Taber-type tool that uses a 10mm bend length.
