The sampling system is used for isolated lots (isolated lots, an isolated lot, a unique lot, or a short series of lots) where switching rules as in ISO 2859-1 do not apply. The inspection levels provided by ISO 2859-1 are not provided in this document to control the relative amount of inspection.

It is intended to be used when the supplier and consumer consider the lot to be separate. So the lot is unique in that it is the only one of its kind. It can also be used when there is a very short sequence lot for the switching rules to be applied.
