ISO 3107 Dentistry - Test Standard for Zinc Oxide-Eugenol and Zinc Oxide-Non-Eugenol Cements

ISO 3107 specifies requirements and performance test methods for non-water-based zinc oxide/eugenol cements suitable for use in temporary cementation, permanent cementation, cavity linings and bases, and temporary restorations in restorative dentistry.

ISO 3107 Dentistry - Test Standard for Zinc Oxide-Eugenol and Zinc Oxide-Non-Eugenol Cements

ISO 3107 is also applicable to non-eugenol cements containing zinc oxide and aromatic oils suitable for temporary cementing.

This International Standard also specifies requirements for non-eugenol cements containing zinc oxide and aromatic oils suitable for temporary cementation. Channel Sealer Zinc oxide/eugenol cements and zinc oxide/non-eugenol cements are available as powder and liquid or as 2 pastes, also in double cartridges with mixing base.

The texture of the pastes is obtained mainly through natural resins (colophony) and paraffin. One of the components consists mainly of zinc oxide, to which other zinc compounds are added, for example, zinc acetate to accelerate the curing time.

Eugenol can be completely or partially substituted by other chelating agents for non-eugenol cements, typically with higher fatty acids, carboxylic acids, and even resins with acid groups.
