ISO 3759 specifies a method for preparing, marking and measuring textile fabrics, garments and groups of fabrics for use in tests to assess change in size after a particular treatment, for example washing, dry cleaning, soaking and steaming.
ISO 3759 applies to woven and knitted fabrics and ready-made textiles. Procedures do not apply to certain floor coverings.
Cut samples, each measuring at least 500 mm x 500 mm, with the edges parallel to the length and width of the fabric. For fabrics with a width of less than 650 mm, full width samples can be used and measurements can be made by agreement between the parties concerned. For length and width measurement of large textiles, refer to ISO 22198.
