DIN 527-3 Plastics, Determination of Tensile Properties, Part 3: Test Conditions for Films and Sheets

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of DIN 527-3 test standard. This standard specifies conditions for determining the tensile properties of plastic films or sheets with a thickness of less than 527 mm, based on the general principles given in DIN 1-1.

DIN 527-3 Plastics, Determination of Tensile Properties, Part 3: Test Conditions for Films and Sheets

This standard is not normally suitable for determining tensile properties. Some film materials have very high elongation at break, which can cause them to fall outside the tensile capacity of the testing machine. In such cases, it is permissible to reduce the starting distance between the handles to 50 mm.

The marking device used to produce the dimension marks shall have two parallel edges, ground smooth and true, 0,05 mm to 0,10 mm wide at the edge and inclined at an angle of not more than 15°.

An ink stamp may also be used to apply the ink to the area of the gauge marks before or after they are produced by the marking device, using an ink of a suitable contrasting color that has no detrimental effect on the film under test.
