Test samples are taken from prefabricated components. Dry density is determined as the ratio between the mass and volume of the test samples after drying to constant mass at (105 ± 5)°C.
The volume of individual test samples is calculated from their size. For this, the dimensions will be measured with caliper from different places with an accuracy of 0,1 mm. The required number of individual measurements, from which the average dimensions are calculated, depends on the shape, size and flatness of the surfaces and should ensure the determination of the volume V of the test sample with an error not exceeding 1%.
Test samples are placed in a ventilated drying oven at (105 ± 5)°C until constant mass is achieved. Immediately after removal from the drying oven, the dry mass, md, of each test sample should be determined. The mass determination error should not exceed 0,1% of the mass of the test sample. The mass of the test sample is considered constant if, after further 24 hours of drying, it has not changed by more than 0,2%.
Flat surfaces should not deviate from flatness by more than 0,1 mm. The plane should be checked along the two diagonals of each surface using a straight edge and a 0,1 mm gauge. Deviations should be corrected by grinding, grinding or similar treatment.
