AAMA 2605 requires Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) Resin Technology. The specification requires 70% PVDF coating composition. If the PVDF drops below 70 percent, the weatherability suffers. This results in poor performance of paint surfaces.
In the United States, the weather resistance of architectural coatings has been tested in South Florida for its high UV levels and humidity. This subtropical climate provides the toughest test of the pavement's weatherability.
PPG Duranar Coatings have been tested in South Florida for 2605 years according to AAMA 10. PPG Duranar coatings have been found to perform extremely well when applied using a chromium phosphate pretreatment. As a result, they offer a standard 2605-year warranty when pretreatment is performed to the standards set out in AAMA 10. An additional 10-year warranty is available for surfaces with an extra clear coating.
