Sealant applied in a U-profile is exposed to various defined temperatures for a specified period of time. During the test, the open surface of the sealant is in a vertical position. The outflow of the sealant from the U-beam is measured at the end of the test period.
One test sample shall be used for each test temperature of 70°C or 50°C or 5°C and for each procedure A and B. Test specimens are to be tested according to Procedure A or Procedure B as agreed.
If the sealant slips from the U-beam, the inner surface of the U-beam will be treated according to the sealant manufacturer's recommendations.
Procedure A
Immediately after preparation, place the test sample in the oven or refrigerated container in a vertical position, with the possible extension of the U profile at the bottom. Send each test sample to each defined test temperature and then remove from the oven or refrigerated container. Using the measuring device, measure in the vertical direction the distance the bottom edge of the sealant of each test sample moves downward.
Procedure B
Immediately after preparation, place the test sample in the oven or refrigerated container in a horizontal position with the open sealing surface in a vertical plane. Send each test sample to each defined test temperature and then remove from the oven or refrigerated container. Using the measuring device, measure in the horizontal direction the distance at which the sealant protrudes beyond the front of the U-profile of each test specimen.
