It can be applied to all carpets and textile floor coverings with cut or loop pile yarn structure. One end of a tuft is held or a loop is hooked and the maximum force recorded during the removal process is recorded. A possible flat horizontal mounting pattern is shown with an appendix.
It is intended to grasp one end of a tuft or suspend it in a loop and record the force recorded at the point where slippage occurs in the ties that hold the tufts in the carpet structure during the lifting process.
If different pile types or different yarns are tested separately and there is a clear difference between them, results from different areas should be reported.
