EN 1015-19 Test Methods for Masonry Mortar, Standard Test for Determination of Water Vapor Permeability of Hardened Plaster and Plaster Mortars

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 1015-19 testing. This European standard specifies a method for determining the steady-state water vapor permeability of plaster and plaster mortars according to EN 998-1 in the upper and lower part of the hygroscopic range.

The test method is applicable to mortars where disc-shaped specimens of uniform thickness between 10 mm and 30 mm can be made.

The samples to be tested are sealed in the open mouths of circular containers in which the water vapor pressure is kept constant at appropriate levels by means of saturated salt solutions. The glasses are placed in a temperature-controlled environment with a constant pressure of water vapor different from that inside the glasses. The moisture transfer rate is determined from the change in weight of the containers under steady-state conditions.

The fresh mortar test sample should have a volume of at least 1,5 times the amount needed to perform the test, whichever is larger, or be obtained by reducing the bulk test sample using a sample divider.
