It is not intended to be applied to pallets with a fixed superstructure or to a rigid, self-supporting container that can be mechanically attached to the pallet and add to the strength of the pallet.
The rated load determined according to this test protocol does not represent a payload and cannot be verified using field trials. The rated load is the minimum load level to be used in determining the maximum working load according to the procedures in ISO 8611-3. The maximum working load can be verified for a given load and intended use using field trials. The publication of the maximum working load is intended to include a description of the load and the intended modes of use of the pallet.
It is very important to be careful when comparing the results of tests with past experience using existing pallet designs. User expectations of pallet performance vary. Some require more and some accept lower performance levels. Users accept different levels of risk when using pallets.
