Applicable for dyeing films with three stimulus values Y ≥ 70 and covering power > 80%. Not applicable for fluorescent or metallic paints.
This International Standard is one of a number of standards for testing and sampling paints, varnishes and related products.
IS0 3965 and IS0 3966 specify methods for determining the contrast ratio of dyes at a constant propagation rate by applying dye films to black and white paintings and polyester film, respectively. They are based on the observation that there is a linear relationship between contrast ratio and reciprocal film thickness, at least over a limited range of film thickness.
