ISO 6945 Rubber Hoses - Determination of Abrasion Resistance of Outer Cover

The ISO 6945 standard, developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), specifies a method for determining the abrasion resistance of the outer coating of rubber hoses.

ISO 6945 Rubber Hoses - Determination of Abrasion Resistance of Outer Cover

This method is primarily intended for testing hydraulic hoses and other hoses of similar type, reinforced with textile or wire and having a nominally straight and parallel coating.

This method is not intended to predict product wear life, but is suitable for comparing quality levels.

This International Standard does not specify the number of cycles that must be completed in each test, this number will be specified in the appropriate product specification.

Wheel and crank arrangement capable of moving the abrasive tool 1,25 mm back and forth across the test piece in a sinusoidal motion at a rate of 100 Hz (one cycle equals 200 mm of travel). A typical arrangement is shown in Figure 1.

The cross-arrangement will be designed to provide:

The midpoint of the crossed length coincides with the midpoint of the assembled hose and mandrel,
The axes of the abrasive tool and the hose are mutually perpendicular at the min point,
The plane of motion is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the test piece.

The recorder can be preset to record the number of cycles completed and to larm the test after the specified number of cycles has been completed.

The wear tool is made of tool steel. Before starting the test, it is essential to maintain the specified profile and surface roughness and to remove any foreign material from the surface of the abrasive tool.

A method of applying a vertical force F to the abrasive tool at the point of contact with the test piece, as specified in the relevant product standard, should be used.

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies (ISO member bodies). The work of drafting International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees. Any member body dealing with a subject for which the technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, government and non-governmental organizations in contact with ISO also take part in the studies. ISO works closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters related to electrotechnical standardization.

Draft International Standards adopted by technical committees are circulated to member organizations for voting. Its publication as an International Standard requires the approval of at least 75% of the voting member organizations.

Among the services provided by our organization within the framework of material testing services, there are also ISO 6945 standard tests.
