ISO 7253 Paints and Varnishes - Determination of Resistance to Neutral Salt Spray (Fog)

Developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), the ISO 7253 standard is one of a series of standards for sampling and testing paints, varnishes and related products. This standard specifies a method for determining the resistance of coatings to neutral salt spray (fog) in accordance with the characteristics of the coating or product.

It can be used to test the relative resistance of paints and varnishes to corrosion when exposed to a high temperature salt spray (fog) climate. Chamber volumes less than 400 Liters are not permitted by this test standard. This test is also called Neutral Salt Spray or NSS test.

The test specimens are placed in a closed chamber and exposed to a continuous indirect spray of neutral (pH 1.0 to 2.5) saline solution falling on the specimens at a rate of 80 to 6.5 ml/7.2cm²/hr. +35C room temperature. This climate is maintained under steady steady state conditions. Test duration is variable.

Among the services provided by our organization within the framework of material testing services, there are also ISO 7253 standard tests.
