ISO 8339 Building Construction - Sealants - Determination of Tensile Properties (Elongation to Fracture)

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of ISO 8339 testing. This standard specifies a method for determining the tensile properties of sealants used in joints in building construction.

ISO 8339 Building Construction - Sealants - Determination of Tensile Properties (Elongation to Fracture)

The sealant to be tested adheres to two parallel contact surfaces of the test specimens extending to rupture. The tensile properties are recorded in a force/strain diagram.

Test specimens are prepared in such a way that the sealant to be tested adheres to two parallel contact surfaces. The test specimens are stretched to fracture and their tensile properties are recorded in a force/elongation diagram. The test results are used to calculate the secant modulus and break extension.

The substrate materials used for the preparation of test specimens as defined in ISO 13640 shall be selected from anodized aluminum or glass. Other substrate materials may be used as agreed by the parties concerned.
