EN 13412 Products and Systems for the Protection and Repair of Concrete Structures, Standard Test for Determination of Compressive Modulus of Elasticity

Method 1 is for products and systems with high creep properties, typically containing polymer binders (PC), where a high loading rate is required to avoid the effects of creep that can significantly reduce the calculated value of the secant modulus.

Method 2 is for products and systems with low creep properties, typically containing polymer modified (PCC) and cementitious (CC) binders.

The principle of the test is to measure the secant modulus of the sample by applying a controlled axial compressive load to a prism of aspect ratio and correlating a longitudinal compressive strain with the compressive stress, thereby inducing it.

The components of the product under test should be kept under standard test conditions for at least 24 hours before mixing. A mortar mixer will be used to prepare a batch of products according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

The mixed material should then be compressed into prism molds following the manufacturer's recommended procedure and cured completely. At least three prisms are required as test specimens.
