It can be applied to hot rolled steel surfaces prepared for painting by methods such as sandblasting, hand and power tool cleaning, and flame cleaning, but these methods rarely produce comparable results.

Essentially, these methods are designed for hot rolled steel, but especially blast cleaning methods can also be used on cold rolled steel of sufficient thickness to withstand any deformation from the action of the abrasive or the effects of the power tool.
