This standard specifies requirements and test methods for evaluating the thermomechanical compatibility between a veneer ceramic and a metallic or ceramic substrate used for dental restorations.
This standard is valid only for materials used together. Compatibility cannot be claimed for a single material. Individual component materials must meet the requirements of ISO 6872 for ceramics or ISO 22674 for metallic materials.
In particular, the elastic modulus of the backing material must be determined to interpret the measurements in the release test.
