ISO 9705 Response to Fire Tests, Room Corner Test for Wall and Ceiling Coating Products

The test represents a fire scenario that starts under well-ventilated conditions in a corner of a given room with a single open door.

Tests performed according to the method specified in ISO 9705 provide data for the early stages of a fire from ignition to flare. The method does not evaluate the fire resistance of products.

The method is not designed to evaluate floor coverings. This method is not suitable for sandwich panel building systems, pipe insulation and facades where certain ISO standards (i.e. ISO 13784, ISO 20632 and ISO 13785 respectively) are available.

ISO 9705 aims to describe the fire behavior of a product under controlled laboratory conditions. The test method can be used as part of a fire hazard assessment that takes into account all factors relevant to the fire hazard assessment of a particular end use.

The fire growth hazard is assessed by measuring the heat release rate of the fire based on the calculation of oxygen consumption.
