One of the major changes in this new edition of ISO 976 is the use of a combined electrode instead of the separate electrodes used in the previous edition; The combined electrode is considered superior to the separate electrodes because the latter tends to block latex deposits.
Electrolyte coupling thus negatively affects repeatability. While older twin electrodes can produce accurate results, they must be replaced gradually due to this cleaning and repeatability issue.
