ISO 9772 Cellular Plastics - Determination of Horizontal Combustion Properties of Small Samples Exposed to Small Flame

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ISO 9772 standard. ISO 9772 standard developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), to compare the relative combustion characteristics of horizontally oriented, small cell plastic samples with a density of less than 845 kg⋅m -250, determined according to ISO 3, when exposed to small flame ignition. Specifies a small-scale laboratory screening procedure for

This test method is designed for quality assurance and limited product evaluation of cellular plastic materials under controlled laboratory conditions and is not intended to evaluate, for example, the fire behavior of building materials or furniture under real fire conditions.

The optional classification system is geared towards the preselection of cellular plastic materials for products, including the determination of ranges of material parameters that yield the same classification.

Cellular plastics are widely used in packaging, building, residential, industrial and shipping products in a variety of applications. The combustion behavior of cellular plastics is a concern for the fire safety of these products. This document presents a method for determining the combustion behavior of cellular plastics using a small flame source.

The burning behavior of cellular plastics is affected by the orientation (vertical or horizontal) of the test specimen. This test method evaluates horizontally oriented specimens. The method described is also considered as a pre-selection test for the materials used for the device and its components. The final acceptance of the material is dependent on its use in the complete equipment that complies with the standards applicable to the equipment in question.

It should be noted that the test results obtained with the test specified in this document alone cannot represent all aspects of fire hazard in the end-use conditions of cellular plastics.

Among the services provided by our organization within the framework of material testing services, there are also ISO 9772 standard tests. Do not hesitate to contact our laboratory EUROLAB for your testing and certification requests.
