ISO 9924-3 Rubber and Rubber Products, Part 3: Hydrocarbon Rubbers, Halogenated Rubbers and Polysiloxane Rubbers After Extraction

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of ISO 9924-3 testing. ISO 9924-3 specifies a thermogravimetric method for the determination of major components of rubber compounds such as elastomers, carbon black and mineral filler.

It determines the “fingerprint” of the tested material. However, the result does not always fully correspond to the theoretical formula of rubber.

This method is applicable for vulcanized and unvulcanized raw or compound rubbers after pre-extraction.

This method is valid for rubbers with hydrocarbon backbones (NR, BR, SBR, IIR, EPDM, ACM, AEM, etc.) used alone or in mixtures. For blends, the polymer content corresponds to the total rubber and it is often not possible to identify individual polymers.

This method applies to rubbers with halogenated hydrocarbon backbones (CR, CSM, FKM, CM, CO, ECO, etc.) or nitrogen-containing (NBR, HNBR, NBR/PVC, etc.) as well as their mixtures. However, these rubbers often form carbonaceous residues that interfere with analysis. Implementation of an appropriate procedure will minimize these interferences.
