ISO CIE 11664-6 Colorimetry, Part 6: Standard Test for Color Difference Formula

It can be applied to the input values ​​of CIELAB L*, a*, b* coordinates calculated according to ISO 11664-6, ISO 11664-4. ISO 11664-6 can be used to indicate the color difference between two color stimuli perceived as belonging to reflecting or transmitting objects.

This includes screens if they are used to simulate reflecting or transmitting objects and the tristimulus values ​​representing the stimuli have been appropriately normalized. ISO 11664-6 does not apply to color stimuli perceived as belonging to areas that appear to emit light as primary light sources or that appear to specularly reflect such light.

The formula is an extension of the CIE 1976 L*a*b* color difference formula (ISO 11664-4 / CIE S 014-4) with corrections for variation in color difference perception accordingly. The reference conditions define the properties of the material and imaging environment to which the formula is applied.
