EN 13696 Wood Flooring, Test Methods for Determining Flexibility and Abrasion Resistance and Impact Resistance

Abrasion resistance is assessed by abrading the faces of representative test pieces or specimens with a specific abrasive applied by means of two loaded wheels.

The number of revolutions required to achieve a defined wear is used to evaluate the resistance to wear. The system described in this Standard is a grit supply system: a certain loose abrasive is fed continuously to the face of the test piece in the path of the loaded wheels.

For calibration, a weighing equipment with an accuracy of ± 1 g is needed to calibrate the force applied by the abrasive wheels to the test piece and the grain flow.

The flexibility of the varnish applied to the face of the test piece is determined by pushing a metal plate equipped with a series of cones, each of different heights and angles, into full contact.
