EN 14080 Timber Structures - Glued Laminated Wood and Glued Solid Wood - Standard Test for Requirements

It also sets out the minimum production requirements, provisions for the assessment and certification of conformity and marking of glued laminated products. This European standard is applicable to glued laminated timber made from the coniferous species listed in this standard, or to poplar consisting of two or more laminates of thickness from 6 mm to 45 mm (inclusive).

This European standard applies to glued solid timber made from the coniferous species listed in this standard or poplar consisting of two to five layers, with a thickness greater than 45 mm and less than or equal to 85 mm.

This European standard applies to large finger joints in glued laminated wood with a finger length of at least 45 mm.

This European standard applies to block-adhered glulam with solid rectangular cross-sections. This European standard also gives requirements for glued laminated products treated against biological attack. Glued laminated products treated with flame retardants are not covered.

When using calculations to determine the strength properties, the characteristic strength properties and the average elastic modulus of glued laminated wood should be determined from calculations based on the documented properties of the laminates and their end joints.
