This European standard specifies a method for determining the load capacity and load deflection characteristics of brackets used to support the wall, fixed to a supporting wall or frame structure.
Sample brackets are attached to a suitable support material and subjected to vertically applied loads. Preparation is made to determine strength, deflection and recovery.
A testing machine or apparatus that can apply the load without distortion, with the maximum load reading occurring above 20% of the full scale reading. The load should be measured using a load cell device with a digital or analog reading with a resolution of 2% of the full scale reading or better. The system must apply an axial force to the sample.
Test walls will be constructed with wall units representing the types the manufacturer claims the bracket to be tested is intended for. Its bracket is fixed according to the manufacturer's instructions for the type under test.
Conditioning of masonry units shall be as specified. According to EN 772-10, the moisture content of autoclaved aerated concrete and calcium silicate wall units is measured in mass. For other wall mounted units, record the conditioning method before installing the units. Records the age of non-autoclaved concrete units when testing masonry samples.
