This International EN 7396-2 standard describes certain features and test methods of anesthetic gas evacuation systems in medical gas piping systems. This standard describes the requirements for the design, installation, operation, performance, documentation, testing and commissioning of anesthetic gas removal disposal systems to ensure patient safety and minimize operator and other person exposure to anesthetic gases and vapors.
This standard contains requirements for power device, pipeline system, performance, interchangeability between key components, and the prevention of cross-connections between anesthetic gas scrubbing disposal systems and medical gas and vacuum pipeline systems.
The EN 7396-2 standard also applies to the expansion of existing anesthetic gas cleaning disposal systems, changes to their disposal systems and replacement of power devices.
The anesthetic gas cleaning system consists of three main parts: a transfer system, a receiving system and a disposal system. Requirements for receiving systems and transfer systems are contained in the EN 8835-3 standard. Connections for terminal units are in EN 9170-2 standard. In the EN 7396-2 standard, specifications and test methods are given to ensure compatibility between the components of the system.
