EN ISO 10079-4 Medical Aspiration Equipment, Part 4: Standard Test for General Requirements

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN ISO 10079-4 standard. This standard specifies the general requirements for medical aspiration equipment common to all parts of the EN ISO 10079 series.

This standard does not apply to:

• End pieces such as aspiration catheters, drains, curettes, Yankauer suckers and aspiration tips;
• syringes;
• dental aspiration equipment;
• Anesthetic gas cleaning systems;
• laboratory aspiration;
• Phototransfusion systems;
• Mucus extractors, including neonatal mucus extractors;
• Suction equipment where the collection vessel is downstream of the vacuum pump;
• Ventouse (birth) equipment;
• Aspiration equipment marked for endoscopic use only; and
• Smoke extraction systems.

Previously, the EN ISO 10079 series of medical aspiration equipment standards consisted of EN ISO 10079-1, EN ISO 10079-2 and EN ISO 10079-3 sections, which have many common requirements. It was thought that combining these common requirements in this new chapter 4 would avoid inconsistencies resulting from the development of three different parts with common requirements and would facilitate the management of any future revision changes.
