Medical electrical equipment intended for use in extreme or uncontrolled environmental conditions outside the hospital environment, such as ambulances and air transport, shall comply with this specific standard. Additional standards may apply to equipment for these use environments.
The scope of this standard is limited to medical electrical equipment intended to be connected to two or more applied parts or to a single patient with multiple functions on an applied part.
