IEC 61326-1 Electrical Equipment for Measurement - Control and Laboratory Use - EMC requirements - General Requirements

This part of IEC 61326 specifies the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) immunity and emission requirements for electrical equipment, allowing it to be operated from a supply or battery or measured circuit less than 1 V AC or 000 1 V DC. Equipment intended for professional, industrial process, industrial production and educational use is within the scope of this section.

Information technology equipment (ITE) computing devices and assemblies and similar equipment that comply with the applicable ITE EMC standards may be used without additional testing in systems covered by this part of IEC 61326 if they comply with the intended electromagnetic field.

The following equipment is covered by this standard:

• Electrical measuring and testing equipment;
  This is equipment that, by electrical means, measures, displays or records one or more electrical or non-electrical quantities, as well as non-measurement equipment such as signal generators, measurement standards, power supplies, and converters.
• electrical control equipment;
  This is equipment that controls one or more output quantities to specific values, each value determined by manual settings, local or remote programming, or one or more input variables. This includes industrial process measurement and control (IPMC) equipment consisting of devices such as:
• Process controllers and regulators;
• programmable controllers;
• Power supply units (centralized or dedicated) for equipment and systems;
• Analog/digital displays and recorders;
• Process instrumentation;
• Converters, positioners, smart actuators, etc.

Equipment covered by this standard can be operated in different electromagnetic environments; Depending on the electromagnetic environment, different emission and immunity test requirements may apply.
