EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 61331-1 test. IEC EN 61331 covers materials in the form of sheets used for the manufacture of protective devices against X-rays of radiation qualities produced with X-ray tube voltages of up to 400 kV and against gamma radiation emitted by radionuclides with photon energy up to 1,3 MeV.
This part 1 is not intended to apply to protective devices to be checked for the presence of attenuation properties before and after periods of use. This section 1 specifies methods for determining and demonstrating the attenuation properties of materials.
There are ways of specifying the values of attenuation properties in accordance with this part of the international standard. Methods for periodic checks of protective devices, in particular protective clothing, methods for determining attenuation by layers in the radiation beam and methods for determining attenuation for protection against ionizing radiation are beyond the scope of this standard.
The same fixed dose rate of the primary beam should be used for the three measurements. If the average dose rate of the primary beam changes during measurements by more than 0,2%, a monitor should be used to normalize the three measurements to the same primary beam dose rate. The dose rate of the primary beam at any point in the beam-limiting aperture plane will not change by more than 2%.
