TS EN 60601-2-41 Electrical Medical Equipment - Part 2-41: Specific Features Related to Basic Safety and Required Performance of Lighting Fixtures Used in Surgical Interventions and Diagnosis

The IEC 60601-2-41 standard prepared by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), an affiliate of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), describes the requirements to be applied to surgical fixtures and diagnostic tools. Within the scope of this standard, endoscopes, laparoscopes and light sources within the scope of the IEC 60601-2-18 standard, fixtures used in dentistry within the scope of ISO 9680, general purpose fixtures within the scope of IEC 60598-2-1 and IEC 60598-2-4 and IEC 60598 Emergency lighting fixtures that fall within the scope of -2-22 are not included. In addition, luminaires used in the clinical areas of hospitals covered by IEC 60598-2-25 were also outside the scope of this standard. It is evil.

TS EN 60601-2-41 Electrical Medical Equipment - Part 2-41: Specific Features Related to Basic Safety and Required Performance of Lighting Fixtures Used in Surgical Interventions and Diagnosis

This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute with the following title: TS EN 60601-2-41 Electrical medical equipment - Part 2-41: Certain features related to the basic safety and required performance of lighting fixtures used in surgical interventions and diagnosis.

Surgical lighting systems, especially used in operating rooms, must provide the best visibility of small and low contrast objects with incisions of different depths and sizes in the operating room.

After the start of the use of electricity in the operating rooms and the development of technology, halogen and xenon lamps have been used in lighting. These systems provide electrical conductivity with gas and emit light. However, with the use of LEDs as a light source, both the heating problem has been overcome and the energy need has decreased. Today, mostly LED-based lighting systems are preferred. These systems are classified, produced and subjected to performance tests according to the TS EN 60601-2-41 standard. In these tests, central illumination intensity, illumination field diameter, light distribution, residual illumination intensity and illumination depth are determined.

Tests in accordance with IEC 60601-2-41 standard are also carried out by our organization within the scope of medical device tests.
