Test for IEEE 11073 Personal Health Device

The IEEE 11073 Personal Health Device (PHD) standards are a set of standards that address the interoperability of personal health devices such as scales, blood pressure monitors, blood glucose monitors, and the like.

The standards are based on earlier IEEE 11073 standards, but differ from this previous work due to the emphasis on devices for personal use (rather than hospital use) and a simpler device model.

PhD standards address the need for a clearly defined, independent standard to control the exchange of information between personal health devices and administrators (for example, mobile phones, personal computers, personal health devices, and health gateways).

Currently, there is no part of the 11073 standard series that allows plug-and-play communication of medical devices in an Internet Protocol (IP)-based distributed PoC medical device communication system. Therefore, this standard defines a discovery, messaging and event propagation method for a distributed PoC medical device communication system based on Web Services.
