EN ISO 1798 Flexible Cellular Polymeric Materials - Determination of Tensile Strength and Elongation at Break

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN ISO 1798 standard. International Standard EN ISO 1798 specifies a method for determining the strength and deformation properties of flexible cellular materials when a test piece is extended at a constant rate until it breaks.

Persons using this International Standard should be familiar with normal laboratory practice. This standard does not purport to address all safety issues, if any, associated with its use. It is the user's responsibility to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to ensure compliance with any national regulatory requirements.

When using a mechanical contact extensometer, care must be taken that the contact elements do not damage the test piece. In addition, their mass and inertia will not affect the determination of the maximum tensile strength by more than 1%.

The test pieces, or the material from which the test pieces are to be cut, should be prepared and conditioned in accordance with ISO 23529, unless otherwise specified. Materials should not be tested less than 16 hours after manufacture, unless it can be shown that, at 48 hours or 72 hours, the mean results do not differ by more than ±10% from those obtained after 72 hours. At the specified time, the test is allowed at 16 hours or 48 hours if the above criterion is met.

Prior to testing, the test pieces or the material from which the test pieces will be cut must be conditioned for at least 16 hours in one of the following atmospheres. In the case of quality control tests, test pieces can be received in a shorter time (at least up to 12 hours) after production and tests are performed after conditioning for a shorter period (up to at least 6 hours).

Among the services provided by our organization within the framework of material testing services, there are also EN ISO 1798 standard tests. Do not hesitate to contact our laboratory EUROLAB for your testing and certification requests.
