Bending Test

Mechanical Tests

Bending Test

The bending test determines the fragility and resistance of metallic materials and welding joints. A test sample is taped at its midpoint through a mandrel that makes the surface concave with a radius of curvature. It is then observed that the convex surface of the twisted sample detects any cracks or defects.

Bending Test

Bending testallows the presence of defects in the source, determining its nature and information on the size and concentration of defects caused by pores, cracks, contractions, incomplete penetration or inclusions. Visual inspection of the broken surface is used to recognize such defects and evaluate the quality and acceptability of the weld. The fracture that arises in connection with the welding is obtained by subjecting the test samples to bending or tensile strength according to observed standards or specifications.
