This European standard does not cover abrasion tests and tests using a particular pantograph. Additional tests beyond the scope of this standard may be required to determine suitability for a particular application and are performed by prior agreement between the customer and the manufacturer.
Designs in existing manufacture should be deemed to meet type tests if the manufacturer is able to provide certified reports of type tests already successfully performed on the same components (in accordance with the test requirements set out in this standard).
This test shows that the strip design provides energy dissipation under current loading so that the maximum design temperature limit is not exceeded when thermal equilibrium is reached. Continuous measurement of temperature will be used to determine the constant temperature reached at defined current loading.
Information is provided according to alternative relevant standards for metal contact strips. Worn weight, if provided, is an estimate based on service conditions.
The tests specified in this standard relate only to pantograph automatic lowering devices operating with air pressure.
