Machines covered by this standard may replace, replace or replace requirements in other standards such as IEC 60079 and IEC 60092.
If certain clauses of this standard are modified to meet specific applications, for example radioactivity or machinery for aeronautics, all other substances are valid as long as they are compliant.
Motors with a rated power not exceeding 5 kW may be designed for use with any static power converter, with or without external inductance, provided that the motor's rated form factor is suitable, rather than being connected to a specific type of static power converter.
In all cases, it is assumed that the static power converter output current ripple is low enough to result in a current ripple factor of no greater than 0,1 at rated conditions.
