IEC 61558-1 Safety of Transformers - Reactors - Power Supply Units and Their Combinations - Part 1: General Requirements and Tests

This standard recognizes internationally accepted levels of protection against possible electrical, mechanical and fire hazards caused by transformers operating under normal conditions in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. It also covers abnormal situations that may occur in practice.

If a transformer conforming to this standard, when examined and tested, is found to have other characteristics that impair the level of safety covered by these requirements, this document will not be deemed to comply with the safety principles.
