This part of IEC EN 60534 is intended to allow for a variety of positioning devices that respond to a rotational movement to be mounted directly on the actuator of a control valve or using an intermediate mounting bracket. This standard applies where interchangeability between actuators and positioners is desired.
The standardized assembly in this standard defines the interface between the positioner and a part of the actuator that has a rotational movement proportional to the control valve movement.
This standard also covers the direct connection between the positioner feedback and the stem (or its axial extension) of a rotary control valve. In such cases, the feedback return coincides with the angular movement of the valve.
The standardized mounting applies to rotary actuators where said rotary part has a maximum movement of 90°. Such a movement coincides with the valve action when a direct connection is made.
Standardized assembly is divided into two options. The positioner manufacturer should specify which mounting design is required.
The positioner manufacturer will provide suitable means to connect the moving parts of the positioner to the shaft or shaft extension. The design of such a link will minimize lost movement along the feedback path.
